You think of China and it’s noise, noise, noise, honk, shove, smog, anger, masks. Lijiang, in Yunnan Province, is in dire contrast and instead, is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in my life. Instead, you are met with the cool summer breeze tickling a small village’s prayer flags, you are met with lock upon locks of love, tied together by a thin red ribbon. You are met with the word beauty, inscribed upon the poorest of boats, you are met by two giggling monks, swapping secrets with each other from the afternoon sun. I love this series of photographs as they capture a different side of China that I have grown to be so proud of.
